Job Description**Reports to**: Deputy Country Program Director, WCS Indonesia Program**Country Program/Sector**: Indonesia (Southeast Asian Archipelago Regional Program/SEAA)**Internal coordination**: Country Director, Regional Director, Senior Managers, Senior Terrestrial Technical Advisor, Science & Technology Unit lead, Communications lead, Global Thematic Directors and teams.**Expected travel**: As required within the region, and to donor/technical meetings.**Job Summary**:This position will provide the strategic oversight and technical support for the Marine Program to successfully implement marine conservation and coastal fisheries initiatives funded by multiple donors. This role supports the WCS management team in the development and implementation of strategic plans and policies. The position advises on all technical aspects of the Indonesia marine program, strategic research activities, and maintains regular communication with WCS project leads, key donors, funding agencies and NGO partners.**Major Responsibilities**:Provide and facilitate technical assistance for WCS Indonesia's marine programmatic activities, and support effective, high-quality management across the program.Collaborate with staff to maintain an updated and ambitious vision and strategic plan for WCS' marine and coastal work in Indonesia that aligns with the 2017-2023 WCS Indonesia Program Strategy.Through regular communication and strong interpersonal relationships, ensure ongoing and enhanced linkages between the Indonesia Marine program and the SEAA Regional, and WCS Global Thematic and cross-cutting strategies (i.e. Marine, Rights and Communities, Counter Wildlife Trafficking, inc. Marine Nature Crimes, Wildlife Health, Markets, International Policy).Support the program teams (e.g. site leads/teams) to ensure effective coordination between programmatic activities and the administrative and financial aspects of WCS Indonesia Program.Work with the Regional Director and Country Program Directors in SEAA to explore and develop opportunities to link Indonesia marine program activities with WCS programs across the wider region and support the development of regional program learning and exchanges.Support the strategic growth of WCS Indonesia, generating new ideas and concepts, for example, market-based initiatives that might help to unlock access to private capital.Improve the program's monitoring, measurement and analysis of program outcomes, and use of scientific results for adaptive management leveraging existing WCS technology initiatives (e.g., SMART, MERMAID).Support WCS Indonesia's contributions, with Government partners, to marine scientific research and publications and engagement with international scientific institutions.Support capacity development of WCS Indonesia staff, identifying/creating opportunities for their professional development (such as trainings, conferences, post-graduate studies, short-term academic placements) and awards.Proactively support the development of high-quality communication pieces for increasing the profile of WCS Indonesia Marine Program and its technical activities.Specific technical and program development responsibilities will also include:Provide technical assistance on MPA design and management, tropical coastal fisheries, species conservation, social safeguarding, social sciences, and/or other appropriate tropical marine conservation issues.Support the WCS Indonesia team to ensure robust, high-quality marine monitoring in coordination with regional and global programs.Ensure that the highest standard participatory and rights-based approaches are applied to all of our marine portfolio activities.Support the marine team to integrate scientific research and results into program activities, assess the impact of conservation interventions, and contribute to adaptive management interventions, through:Working with the team to ensure appropriate and efficient collection, analysis, dissemination and publication of field data and results;Enabling better integration of scientific results into adaptive management actions;Publicizing, with the necessary government pre-approvals, WCS Indonesia Marine Program achievements through popular and scientific media, publishing project results in scientific journals and through presentation at national and international fora; andEnsuring national staff have capacity and/or opportunities to strengthen capacity to actively undertake research, contribute to scientific publications, and participate in national and international scientific fora.Support the growth of the marine species program in WCS Indonesia.Contribute to performance reviews of marine program staff, and the recruitment of new staff and short-term specialists.Donor cultivation, stewardship, and managementActively lead and manage donor (public, private and individual) relations through frequent networking (such as one-on-one meetings, attendin
