What our Architect days look like in DANA?
This is a hands-on technical role reporting to the Chief Innovation Officer. The Principal Architect (Software) will supervise the technical design across all teams. The Principal Architect may directly manage a small team of Architects, and will also mentor, advise, review and revise technical deliverables from software engineers under the Head of Engineering.
The Principal Architect will participate in the formal software engineering process during the System Analysis and technical design steps, and may also perform code reviews during the implementation phase. The Principal Architect may originate designs and software code to facilitate cross-team integrations, as a form of mentoring, or to solve time-critical technical problems.
The Principal Architect is accountable for the performance, scalability, maintainability, extensibility, and flexibility of the software product and will guide design and implementation decisions to align with non-functional objectives over the long term. The Principal Architect is also accountable for the market success of the product, and the timely delivery of new features and functions. The Principal Architect will exercise judgment about short-term versus long-term design trade-offs, originate risk-balanced solutions to apparent paradoxes, innovate workarounds or time-phased resolutions to engineering challenges. The Principal Architect will not always have the authority to direct teams to adhere to architecture recommendations and must use leadership and influence to achieve goals and objectives.
The Principal Architect will evaluate 3rd party technical offerings. The Principal Architect will stay abreast of trends in the payments, FinTech, and software sector generally and propose opportunities to improve DANA based on these.
To apply, you must:
Should have 15+ years of progressive technical hands-on experience in professional software development, including 10+ years of technical leadership experience including explicit Architect roles.
Must have demonstrated success as an Architect on a complex distributed system.
Must have demonstrated success working in technical teams of over 100 software developers.
Must have experience working with distributed teams and diverse cultures.
Must have demonstrated success delivering under Agile processes.
Must have experience with products achieving very large scales, such as millions of simultaneous sessions, or millions of transactions per minute (or more).
Must be up-to-date with the latest technologies and new trends.
Financial technology business domain experience a plus, but not required.
Must have a strong awareness of security best practices, and a proven track record of designing systems to be resilient against both faults and attacks.
Must be a team player, with patience and fortitude, a strong work ethic, and a passion for technology.
