Thiess, the world’s largest mining services provider, is seeking a Country HR Manager. In this job, you will be based in Jakarta and frequently travel to Balikpapan and other project sites. Reporting directly to President Director, this role will liaise with both internal and external stakeholders in Asia.
About the Country HR Manager Role:

This role will partner with the People & Capability Manager - Asia and the Indonesia leadership team to provide operational HR support for Indonesia and ensure the Indonesia business aligns with Thiess’s organisational objectives and to achieve consistency in the global approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, direction, coaching and development to the Indonesian people, capability and communications team
Lead consistently according to CIMIC principles regardless of circumstance or relationship by building a safe and inclusive work environment
Set and measure challenging objectives to drive function and team performance, ensuring alignment to business strategies
Focus on priorities in areas critical to function and the company's success
Develop and implement an effective people strategy for Indonesia and ensure responsibilities are planned and coordinated through active participation in the planning process and are monitored for effectiveness
Lead the delivery of specific HR elements of the business unit action plan
Provide HR input to new work strategy and development
Provide operational specialist HR knowledge and expertise
Lead the implementation of HR policies, strategies, systems, standards and initiatives that support broader business needs and complies with relevant legal, governance demands and ethical standards
Manage the graduate programme in Indonesia with a clear stakeholder engagement plan and alignment to the Thiess graduate strategy
Ensure appropriate management and operational implementation of HR risk management structures, systems, guidance and processes
Initiate strategies to address risk, specifically relating to any labour agreements and company regulations and take appropriate action as required
Ensure the Indonesian operations comply with legislative and corporate HR responsibilities
Ensure the establishment and maintenance of industrial arrangements across operating projects
Ensure that a process is in place to assess and review performance of personnel on a periodic basis
Ensure that performance and conduct concerns are addressed in line with company and legislative requirements
Maintain strong relationships with internal and external organisations (e.g. unions, Ministry of Manpower and local government authorities)
Oversee the development and delivery of a metrics-driven diversity and inclusion (D&I) country plan with a clear stakeholder engagement plan demonstrating alignment to and supporting the delivery of Thiess's D&I strategy
Promote, encourage and foster the safety culture and environmentally responsible behaviour within the people and capability team, to ensure incidents are reported and corrective actions are implemented

To succeed in the Country HR Manager role, you will need a minimum of five years of experience in an HR leadership role in a similar industry.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or industrial/organisational psychology
Demonstrated knowledge of HR in the Indonesian market, with demonstrated abilities to consistently apply this knowledge in a heavy industry environment
Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills
Budget and staff management experience
Build and encourage a diverse and inclusive culture
Demonstrated commitment to business excellence and continuous improvement
Skilled in performance management and addressing poor performance as required
Skilled in developing and managing stakeholder groups across the business
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Knowledge of culture and role in supporting cultural competence
Understanding of coaching and mentoring approaches
Understanding of corporate governance and individual responsibilities
General knowledge in applicable legislation, statutes and management systems and procedures
Able to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to whole of business issues or seek advice
Understanding of risk management procedures and processes
Understanding of compliance and reporting procedures and processes
