Assists in the implementation of the CompanyÆs Radiation Safety Program, under the direction of the Senior Radiation Safety Officer. Helps to ensure that radiation safety activities are being performed according to approved policies and procedures and applicable requirements, while providing adequate protection of public health and safety. May interface with Manufacturing & Technology, Procurement & Materials, Export Controls and operations personnel at all organizational levels, acting as an advisor and to a lesser extent as an instructor. The position works closely with other Radiation Safety Officers on incident investigations, audit findings, and analyzing exposure information. Familiar with, and developing working knowledge of, existing applicable regulations and license requirements, as well as proposed changes in regulations and requirements. Working to develop a good understanding of Company operations. Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: assisting in training and annual retraining as required by licenses(s), administering a personnel monitoring program, conducting required radiation surveys and tests, maintaining radioactive materials inventory records, ensuring that licensed materials are securely stored or transported and coordinating disposal of waste radioactive material. The position may also be participate in an internal radiation safety audit program and other tasks as designated in the applicable regulations and company license(s) along with some general administrative duties. May provide technical advice to operations and shared services personnel. Position works under close supervision. Activities may include: report writing, researching and interpreting standards and codes and assisting in the implementation of plans, policies or procedures. Position requires computer skills, written and oral communication skills.
