Able Seaman (Ab)

Will include acting as lookout / standing watch and conducting security rounds while the ship is underway.- Steer the vessel under the guidance of the Deck Officer as well as be of general assistance to the mate they are on watch with.- Deck operations such as docking, undocking, and line handling and to help with the unloading and loading of cargo when the vessel docks in port.- Routine deck maintenance must be undertaken, as will the upkeep of emergency equipment, including life rafts, lifeboats and rescue boats.- Look after the hull and deck of the vessel. Make sure these parts of the ship, as well as her anchors, windlasses and other such equipment are well maintained and in good working order are part of the Bosun's responsibilities.- Responsible for painting to repairs to cleaning to general maintenance.
