About the role
TheSuperintendent Drill & Blastwill be responsible to lead, organise and provide direction for employees to ensure outstanding performance is achieved in the areas of people performance, HSE&Q outcomes and the business results. Reporting to the Principal Drill & Blast and based on Balikpapan Support Facility on a 5/2 roster, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high quality solutions and results.
Some of your duties will include;
Ensure everyone understands the group's objectives
Review and check all daily drilling and blasting production data ensuring accurate information is recorded in Mine track
Review and check daily staff, employee and sub-contractor timesheets
Review and check all Blast contractor reports and invoices
Regularly audit blast contractors working area, data control, inventory control and Magazine area
Actively contribute in the implementation drill and blast plans with engineers and other supervisors
Actively communicate drill and blast planning outcomes with other Superintendents
Participate in the business planning process to ensure our business and services are focused on client needs
Co-ordinate all activities for drill and blast staff and employees including blast contractors ensuring successful and cost effective implementation of plans.
Ensure drill and blast plans are implemented according to design with survey markers in place prior to drill and blast activities.
Ensure areas are prepared appropriately for equipment access.
Communicate daily with Maintenance department ensuring drilling equipment are maintained in good condition while achieving production targets.
Develop standard procedures for drilling and blasting activities.
Observe and review all blasts fired ensuring optimal fragmentation, no misfires, appropriate explosive material used, etc.
Maximize production at reduced cost & reduce production risks.
Ensure Client needs are met and responded effectively.
Develop workforce to ensure they are focused and constantly achieving target, while creating a participating work environment.
Co-operate, encourage, motivate and provide skills training for employees in order to develop and enhance their abilities both as individuals and as part of a team.
Ensure operation expertise is up to date.
Investigate and adopt where appropriate new technologies and practices.
The above mentioned accountabilities do not cover the full scope of work and you will be required to perform additional duties from time to time as directed
Maintain team performance
Provide regular feedback and mentor the growth and development of direct reports
Involve in annual assessment process and proactively seek for development plans
Ensure development plan is available for team members so that they keep up with required skills & competencies for current and future roles
About you
What skills and experience do you need?
Graduated from Bachelor Degree in Mine Engineering or related discipline
Minimum of 8 years' experience in large open cut mining operation of which at least one or 3 years in production/service supervision/ management role
Certified in POM from Mine and Energy Department.
Comprehensive knowledge in mining concept and applications
Computer literacy
Financial reporting & concepts
OHS&E requirements Legislative and statutory requirements
