Our Vaccines business unit requires a Medical Manager or Senior Medical Manager to join the team in Sydney or Brisbane. Reporting to the Head of Medical Sanofi Pasteur, the Senior Medical Manager is accountable for driving patient-centric outcomes and business success by inspiring, partnering and leading in designated therapeutic areas.

You will play a critical role in championing insight driven early clinical development and lifecycle management of vaccine products through strategic alignment and execution of KOL engagement and advocacy activities, management of collaborative studies and expert outreach for investigator sponsored research. In addition, you lead the collaboration with the clinical trials unit for locally managed company sponsored clinical trials, publication planning and CME activities.

This is a key leadership role, and as part of the cross-functional Brand Team, developing and driving Medical strategy and solutions, effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders, creating clinical trial concepts and ensuring their execution, as well as facilitating Brands’ competitive advantage by providing specialist medico-marketing expertise to drive Sanofi Pasteur’s across brand strategy.

You will exhibit effective leadership competencies, such as commitment to customers and integrity, strategic leadership, driving accountability, working collaboratively, and developing people and organisation. you will lead the Medical strategy with a persistent Drive for a broader Impact, incl. regional and global outcomes, an ability to effectively Judge situations with a robust analytical rigour to frame new perspectives, and by applying ethical Influence on teams’ and individuals’ behaviours to achieve common goals.

Priorities
Provide in-depth medical expertise to Brand Team(s), effectively interact with relevant stakeholders, and implement local medical education and scientific engagement programs

Establish & manage scientific partnerships with Australian KOLs, and other regionally/globally relevant experts as required
Lead the Medical strategy, drive local clinical plan, facilitate ISTs and publications, and assist in site selection for LCM clinical projects
Lead the Medical strategy and develop the Country Medical Roadmap for designated therapeutic areas and across brands. Specifically:Integrated evidence generation plan (iEGP)
Integrated scientific communication plan (iSCP)
Insights Generation Plan (IGP)
Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP – in collaboration with field medical)
Launch preparedness plan (for prelicensure products)

Ensure effective development and execution of country Brand plans in collaboration with country brand team and engage with global brand team for “key market” vaccines in alignment with “Glocal” model
Actively participate in key congresses by gathering insights, critically evaluating and sharing relevant scientific information to inform strategy
Review and approve promotional and non-promotional materials
Provide to Healthcare Professionals accurate, unbiased, balanced, and timely answers to requests for information about SP products
Champion the Pharmacovigilance (PV) principles and reporting of adverse events related to all SP products
Champion the MI approval process for medical initiatives
Lead effort to assist Head of Medical with recruiting and hiring new medical staff
Work closely with Head of Medical to build strong SP MSL team through training and coaching
Drive execution excellence of Medical strategy by sharing best practice at local, regional and global levels
Support pipeline product(s) evaluation as part of local product development projects
Work with Commercial leadership to ensure optimal alignment of field resources in delivering therapeutic area goals and objectives in a compliant manner
Responsible for developing and managing Key Opinion Leader engagement plans aligned with the Across Brand strategy
Driving the identification and resolution of TA/Brand operational needs and processes
Attend and report on appropriate scientific meetings to maintain awareness of research activities for each TA
Present monthly updates at Brand Team meetings
Champion internal Sanofi policies and Medicines Australia Code of Conduct compliance requirements

Strategic Impact:
Establish and maintain a highly credible scientific reputation for Sanofi Pasteur by being the key binding function between the Science and the Business in the Australian market
Focus on implementing agreed Medical strategies by realising the value-creating contribution of Medical Affairs in supporting Sanofi Pasteur products in the Australian market as well as regionally and globally. Specifically:
Insights capture, analysis, and communication to directly inform business strategy
Smart evidence generation with a focus on development products to optimise market access plans
Raising the voice of the medical science and evidence to drive decision making
Building trusted partnerships with key external stakeholders and decision makers
Direct the development of strategic brand imperatives to maximise opportunities for market access and vaccine uptake
Drive solutions and improvement of processes/procedures to achieve Execution Excellence

Scope of people Responsibility:
Through matrix organization, lead highly trained (Pharm D, PhD or MD) medical professionals (e.g. MSLs, Medical Managers, Graduates) for designated projects on behalf of the Country Medical Head
Provide effective coaching and feedback on job performance related to Medical tactics, skills/capabilities and behaviours required in the role
Provide training on TA/Brand scientific knowledge to the Field Medical team and other internal stakeholders and Business Partners, as required
Collaborate with cross-functional team building influence and credibility to effectively align matrix team members to achieve common goals

You will bring:
5+ years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry
Medical Degree (preferred)
Postgraduate specialist qualifications in a medical /science field (e.g. MSc / PhD ). MBA/EMBA desirable
At least 3 years of experience in Medical Affairs in Medical Management, with people management experience preferred
Product launch experience
Understanding of clinical trials methods, implementation and interpretation of clinical data, sound scientific and clinical judgment, and an eagerness to continue to learn more in assigned therapeutic area
Outstanding communication skills and the ability to function within a team environment, utilising the strengths and diversity of other team members to improve own performance;
Strong, confident and engaging presentation and facilitation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills related to management of scientific leaders and authorities
Collaborative problem-solving approach within the team
Strong leadership behaviours delivering value for customers by understanding and meeting their needs; act with candour and courage; make rapid, disciplined decisions
Simultaneously handling multiple tasks and working under pressure

Demonstrated self-drive and leadership capabilities
Experience with ATAGI and PBAC submission preparation desirable
Scientific/Medical qualification specifically in Immunology / Virology / Infectious Diseases desirable
Expertise in Epidemiology / Real World Evidence
Clinical study management
Prior people management
