Power Analyst

The Renewables & Power Team is part of the analyst department in Rystad Energy and is responsible for maintaining and developing our database and products within the sector.
The work done by the Renewables & Power Team is key to our company's ambition to become a reference in the energy transition.
The work consists of collecting, modeling, and analyzing data and presenting it to clients.
This will give you a deep understanding of the long-term electricity markets including renewable energy (such as solar, wind, geothermal and hydro), conventional sources of electricity (such as gas and coal), energy storage and low carbon supply chain.
You will work in close collaboration with our team, consultants and business developers in offices around the world.
**Key responsibilities/tasks**
- Analyze country power markets to understand historical power generation by source and available capacity
- Analyze country energy policies to support work for forecasting the future power mix
- Provide thought leadership on power, renewables & related supply chain markets
- Perform commercial and economic evaluations of all electricity sources including NPV, LCOE and breakeven analysis.
This analysis will then be used to forecast electricity prices in key regions
- Gather and analyze power & supply chain market in solar, wind and geothermal segments
- Work with data analyst to create algorithms to crawl power data from official sources.
Develop in-house models to forecast long-term electricity prices, country demand, and generation stack
- Gather asset-level data (ie.
power plant information) to populate our in-house database.
Data includes: power generation capacity, technology, ownership, the capacity factor for each plant
- Maintain and update databases with the most up-to-date information
- Take ownership of delivering reports and commentaries on topical events
- Conduct regular research trips to build and maintain a strong network of industry contacts
- Present our research at conferences and in front of clients
- Become an expert in the power sector
- Support our clients and business development team

**Requirements, Experience & Skills**
- Experience in market research, consulting, developer or power utility role, or academia with a focus on the power or energy sector
- University degree in a data-driven or energy-related field such as electrical engineering, renewable energy, mathematics, engineering or economics
- Strong data analytical skills and excellent skills in Microsoft Excel are essential
- Understanding of power markets and pricing mechanisms
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex analysis clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Self-motivated as well as a strong team player
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia
- Proactive, independent, open-minded, and creative
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is a strong multi-tasker

**Nice to have**:

- 5 years of work experience or more in the abovementioned areas
- Programming skills in Python, R or similar
- Command of other major languages (e.g.
Mandarin Chinese, Vietnamese etc)
- Additional data analyst tools (e.g.
Power BI) and competence
