About the role

The Plant Manager for Kerry’s flavours plant at Karawang will be responsible for the start-up of Kerry’s Flavour plant and providing cross functional leadership to align the Karawang site with the operating model. This exciting role will support the project from Green Field right through to production.

Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, the role will lead the Factory Team to achieve quality, efficiency, cost and delivery targets which are consistent with business objectives with specific regard to plant utilization, process improvement, cost containment, labour and resource utilization. Facilitate continuous improvement to ensure practices are aligned with Kerry Group Continuous Improvement Practices and develop and lead teams to create and foster a team environment and culture which is consistent with the Site Objectives and the strategic direction of the Kerry Group. The role will lead the startup of Operations on the site and directly manage the relationship with key stakeholders in the final phase of the business transition.

Key responsibilities

Workplace Health and Safety; Environmental and Human Resources Practices:
Ensure workplace culture, structures and resources support achievement of Kerry Business Plans and customer service commitments. Establish an environment that adheres to safe work practices by driving safety improvements, best practice through regular safety meetings, safety walks and leading by example as well ensuring compliance with relevant legislation for the site. Ensure that ongoing performance management and development of all employees is consistent with current and future human resource requirements. Ensure the Site operates within the guidelines of the relevant Kerry Group Policies and Procedures and Local Legislation requirements with regards to risk and environmental management.
Manufacturing Performance:
Develop and administer the manufacturing budget; examine variances and exercise financial control to ensure manufacturing activities operate at minimum cost. Oversee operational systems to ensure cost effective production within quality specifications. Oversee production schedules, ensuring operations are at maximum efficiency within budgeted costs and meeting quality and delivery objectives. Review developments in manufacturing operations and make recommendations relating to systems and capital expenditure planning. Business Performance Reporting: Establish and maintain reporting mechanisms which provide analysis of: Manufacturing Costs Production efficiency Delivery Inventory performance at site level Customer Service Performance
Quality Operations:
Provide the necessary resources, procedures, training and controls to ensure adherence to Kerry Standards and third-party food safety and quality standards in terms of GMP; chemical control; sanitation control; HACCP; allergen control; non-conforming products; product trace/recall; customer/consumer response. Establish and maintain reporting mechanisms which provide analysis of Quality Performance. Actively participate in and provide guidance to the Site HACCP Team.
Warehouse Operations:
Oversee the management of the Warehousing and Inventory Control Processes for the Manufacturing Site. Ensure all activities involved in the receipt and storage of raw materials and the storage and freighting of finished goods is cost efficient and effective in meeting customer’s needs.

Qualifications and skills

Appropriate Tertiary Qualification Previous experience in flavours, fragrances, chemicals or food ingredients industries with a deep understanding of manufacturing operations Minimum of 10 years relevant appropriate leadership experience Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and engage with key stakeholders at all levels (internally with the business and externally with customers) Leadership skills and demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop employees Excellent project management and interpersonal/communication skills Project management skills, especially related to systems and process Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
