WHO is a specialized agency of the United Nations with objectives to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable. The WHO Indonesia Country Office directs and coordinates the authority for health by supporting the Indonesian Government in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of national health policies, strategies and plans, setting norms and standards, improving knowledge dissemination and management, monitoring country health situation and building sustainable institutional capacity. The Country Office develops a two-way collaboration with the Government of Indonesia to achieve universal health coverage, providing accessible, affordable and quality health services to all its citizens.

The objectives of the AMR programme are to support One Health approach in Indonesia by:
(i) providing strategic leadership, engaging in partnerships where joint action is needed;
(ii) shaping the research agenda and stimulating the generation, translation and dissemination of valuable knowledge;
(iii) setting norms and standards and promoting and monitoring their implementation;
(iv) articulating ethical and evidence-based policy options, including providing vision for scaling up proven interventions;
(v) providing technical support, catalyzing change, and building sustainable institutional capacity; and
(vi) monitoring the health situation and assessing health trends. The purpose of the programme is to support delivery of the WHO GPW 13 priority goals and targets in alignment with national plans and SDG goals and targets in relevant areas of work.

The immediate strategic objectives of the programme in Indonesia are to assist the Ministry of Health in formulating/updating policies, strategies, plans and guidelines and promoting multi-sectoral and whole-of-society approaches to avoid the emergence and spread of AMR.

Under the direct supervision of the Technical Officer/NTD and general supervision of Medical Officer (CDS), the incumbent will:

Essential: University degree (Bachelor’s level) in Medicine or public health.
Desirable: Masters-level university degree in public health or other relevant social sciences

Essential: At least two years of experience in the field of infection prevention and control and/or antimicrobial resistance
Desirable: Experience working with UN or international organizations.

Competencies:

Functional Knowledge and Skills:
Building and maintaining effective working relationships with Ministry of Health (MoH), UN agencies and partners;
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds;
Knowledge and experience in programme planning and implementation;
Good understanding of multisectoral approaches;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Ability to apply technical knowledge in day-to-day work.

Other Skills (e.g. IT)
Very good understanding of internet-based learning and networking and ability to working in word-processing, spreadsheet and databases packages.
Have a continuous professional development ability; and ability for building an integrated working team environment with sector partners.

Use of Language Skills
Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English and Bahasa, Indonesia.

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in Indonesia RUPIAH. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at IDR 690,892,000 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
