This onshore position is based in our Jakarta office, reporting to the Regional Forecast Manager.

Job ScopeResponsible for preparation of marine weather forecasts for clients engaged in offshore and nearshore activities.
This includes operations for weather-critical activities from dredging near shore or in ports, oil and gas exploration, and offshore windfarm activities in harsh, remote locations.
Primary responsibility is to provide accurate and reliable forecasts by the onshore forecaster to rigs and vessels operating offshore.Main RoleMaintain high standards of marine weather forecasting using up-to-date weather models and forecasting techniques.
Apply model output with consideration of local effects.
Communicate weather developments clearly to offshore personnel and liaise regularly to address weather-related concerns.
Proactively convey unexpected or severe weather changes to clients without delay.
Support and contribute to the company's QA and HSSE management related to marine weather forecasts.ResponsibilitiesPreparation of daily marine weather forecasts for multiple clients over a wide geographic region (east from Africa to the Pacific; includes Asian and Oceania waters).
Maintain high forecasting standards using current models and techniques; interpret weather models and apply local effects to outputs.Assist offshore operators with meteorology and oceanography insights regarding weather and sea conditions at locations and along routes; prioritize safety and asset security.Liaise with offshore personnel, providing clear opinions on weather development and expressing concerns when warranted while staying true to forecast conclusions.Proactively communicate changes in weather conditions, including onset of severe weather, to clients without delay.Support maintenance/improvement of the company's QA and HSSE management systems related to marine weather forecasts.QualificationsA formal professional qualification in meteorologyMinimum of 5 years' experience in Marine Weather Forecasting, including at least 3 years serving the oil and gas offshore industryKnowledge of wind, wave, and ocean current modelsExperience working on offshore oil and gas facilities and vesselsUnderstanding of computer systems and networksEnthusiasm to develop meteorology and oceanography science and to explore new techniquesWorking knowledge of O365 productsUnderstanding of QHSE policies and practicesFluent in written and spoken EnglishActive member of meteorological groups and professional associationsWell organized, able to manage varying workloadsTeam player; able to cope with demand spikesDecisive with willingness to take responsibilityWillingness to be on call and work extended hours if requiredDisclaimerFugro does not accept unsolicited applications from recruitment agencies.
