Position Overview
Working at Merpay
The mission of Merpay’s Legal Team is to promote Merpay’s business growth from a legal perspective.There are no barriers between the Legal Team and product teams or others. We work closely with all teams to discuss matters daily and build Merpay’s business together.Although there are few people on our team, we oversee a wide variety of Merpay’s business functions. The Legal Team provides a place where each member can exercise discretion over their work and proactively work with a sense of speed.While helping build Merpay’s business, we collaborate and communicate with many other members inside the company to support Merpay’s services with creative ideas.We’re looking for people who will work with a sense of ownership in providing Mercari and Merpay’s products to users.
Work Responsibilities
New business development: Considering aspects of service design from a legal perspective, etc.
External partnerships: Business alliances, etc.
Legal response to a wide array of financial regulations: The Payment Services Act, etc.
Other miscellaneous tasks, contract reviews, etc.
Required Experience
Experience providing corporate legal counsel: Roughly five years or more
Preferred Experience
Experience working in finance (especially work related to foreign exchange/financing/the Installment Sales Act)
Knowledge and experience regarding laws/ordinances closely related to Mercari Group’s business

Scheduled working hours: 10 AM – 7 PM
Currently, due to COVID-19 pandemic, we have introduced a full-flex system without core time to increase the choice of working hours and allow for more flexible working styles.*does not apply to all positions

Annual salary paid in 12 installments (monthly)
