Position Overview
Work Responsibilities
The mission of the Learning & Development (L&D) team at Mercari is to empower our diverse organization to create an environment that fosters high performance and inclusivity through continuous learning and development. As an L&D specialist, you will work closely with relevant business leaders and other stakeholders to understand capability building needs, identify or develop existing learning assets, and design as well as deliver creative and effective solutions.
What You Will Be Doing
Learning Strategy and Design
Provide input on and implement L&D and organizational growth strategies according to business/market demand through manager onboarding initiatives, leadership development programs, and learning culture communication plans.
Work closely with leaders across the organization to identify their training needs and capacity development areas.
Collaborate with HRBPs to ensure continuous learning solutions are always relevant and drive business outcomes.
Partner with our HR Data Management Team to use data and analytics to understand learner behavior and drive continuous improvement in our learning solutions.
Program Operations
Ensure efficient and well-documented planning, execution, branding, and communications of learning programs. Leverage change management methodology.
Map existing learning assets, identify capability development needs not met by current assets, and create viable plans that effectively address our business needs.
Determine whether new assets should be built internally or procured from external vendors.
For vendor assets, assist with vendor relationship management and managing their performance.
Allocate budget effectively to find solutions to implement the required training internally or work with third-party training providers.
Evaluation and Reporting
Determine key metrics and rigorous evaluation strategies to assess the impact that programs have. Identify key insights to inform future actions and decision-making.
Implement systems and mechanisms based on people analytics practices to continuously guide our L&D initiatives with data.
Learning Technology
Drive a blended learning strategy. Integrate various learning technologies to enhance the quality and effectiveness of learning experiences.
Facilitation
Be an experienced and dynamic facilitator. Adapt your facilitation style to accommodate the different levels and learning styles of our global team.
Design and develop engaging learner experiences using systematic processes for instructional design and learning experience design.
Build and develop a team of internal trainers, and ensure the quality of training and facilitation meets the needs of business development.

Required Experience
At least four years of L&D experience in a corporate setting (preferably in the IT industry)
Demonstrated skills in training design & implementation
Experience organizing and leading L&D projects in a corporate environment
Experience creating an L&D strategy that aligns with the organization's business goals and provides content that supports that effort
Familiarity with leadership development principles, agile methodologies, and design-thinking practices preferred
Solid understanding and proven application of adult learning principles, practices, and procedures of instructional design for digital modalities
Strong partnering, influencing ,and collaboration skills; able to build positive relationships with peers, internal stakeholders in the business groups, and external providers
Preferred Experience
At least five years of experience working in HR
BA/BS with four years of experience or MA/MS and two years of experience in a related field, such as education, training design, business coaching, and corporate training, or the equivalent experience in establishing outstanding and creative learning experience design practices.
Experience with knowledge sharing (train the trainers programs or the equivalent)
Experience with strategic planning and organizational change management
Experience negotiating and coordinating with stakeholders on the business side
Experience using data to plan, design, and implement talent development programs
Experience in managing relationships with external suppliers
Experience working in a startup environment, or at a global or tech company with people from diverse backgrounds

Working Conditions
Employment Status

Scheduled working hours: 10 AM – 7 PM
Currently, due to COVID-19 pandemic, we have introduced a full-flex system without core time to increase the choice of working hours and allow for more flexible working styles.(*does not apply to all positions)
