Airswift is partnering with our client in Indonesia for a subsea project and is looking for a Lead SURF Installation and Pipeline Engineer .
Brief Job Purpose Responsible for the design, installation, and operational integrity of subsea umbilicals, risers, flowlines, and pipelines in deepwater oil and gas projects.
This role ensures that all SURF systems are engineered for maximum efficiency, safety, and reliability in extreme offshore conditions.
The engineer leads a multidisciplinary team to ensure the successful integration of SURF systems with other subsea and floating facilities, adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
The Lead SURF & Pipeline Engineer is also involved in the commissioning, optimization, and maintenance of these systems throughout the project's lifecycle, ensuring continuous performance and safety.
Responsibilities and Key Objectives Design subsea umbilicals that carry hydraulic fluids, chemicals, power, and data between surface facilities and subsea equipment.
Ensure proper sizing and design for operational depth, environment, and production needs.
Design riser systems (flexible, rigid, or hybrid) connecting subsea systems to surface platforms, capable of handling high-pressure, high-temperature conditions at deepwater depths.
Design subsea flowlines for transporting hydrocarbons and other fluids from subsea production systems to surface facilities, optimized for production rates, fluid properties, and environmental conditions.
Perform detailed mechanical and structural analysis to ensure components withstand dynamic loading, external forces, pressure, temperature, and corrosion risks.
Select appropriate materials (e.g., corrosion-resistant alloys, flexible materials) considering durability, fatigue resistance, corrosion protection, and lifecycle management.
Coordinate design with other engineering disciplines for seamless integration with subsea equipment, flowlines, risers, umbilicals, and surface facilities.
Ensure effective integration of risers, flowlines, and umbilicals with subsea production systems, including subsea trees, manifolds, and control systems.
Provide input for the design of floating production systems (FPSOs), drilling rigs, and offshore platforms for accommodating risers, flowlines, and umbilicals.
Develop installation plans and procedures for safe deployment and connection of subsea systems.
Oversee installation processes using offshore vessels, ROVs, and cranes.
Conduct testing (hydrostatic, pull tests) to ensure system integrity before operation.
Support commissioning with proper functional testing to verify design compliance.
Monitor operational performance, identify issues like leaks or damage, and implement corrective actions.
Implement monitoring systems to track system health and status.
Perform root cause analysis for failures and recommend repairs or redesigns.
Develop maintenance strategies for system integrity and reliability throughout operational life.
Coordinate subsea repair activities, including use of ROVs and diving teams.
Design subsea inspection programs to detect degradation or damage early.
Conduct safety and risk assessments (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP).
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (API, DNV GL, ISO, NORSOK).
Design systems to minimize environmental impact and meet safety and environmental regulations.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Subsea Engineering, or related field.
Master's degree in Subsea or Offshore Engineering is beneficial.
Minimum 25 years of oil & gas project experience, with 15 years in deepwater projects and 10 years in subsea engineering, focusing on SURF systems.
Hands-on experience with design, installation, testing, and operation of subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines in deepwater environments.
Experience with offshore projects involving complex riser and flowline systems.
Expertise in subsea system design, analysis, and structural integrity including flexibility and fatigue analysis.
Knowledge of materials selection and corrosion protection strategies.
Proficiency in design software (e.g., SACS, ANSYS, AutoCAD, FEM analysis tools).
Familiarity with installation techniques and equipment such as pipeline laying vessels and ROVs.
Knowledge of safety standards and regulations (API 17J, DNVGL, ISO 13628, NORSOK).
Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE) certification is advantageous.
Offshore safety certifications (BOSIET, HUET, etc.).
Optional subsea engineering certifications.
Strong problem-solving skills for addressing complex subsea issues.
