Position Overview
Work Responsibilities
Merpay’s Engineering Office wants to provide engineers with an environment where they can grow, to help solve society’s problems through technology. Specifically, its work covers a wide range of activities, such as tech PR for Merpay’s technologies and organizations, planning and conducting onboarding programs to get people contributing to their teams soon after joining, and providing engineers with mid- to long-term career development opportunities. Specific work responsibilities include:
Planning and conducting tech PR to raise the transparency of Merpay’s engineering organizations
Planning and implementing engineer hiring strategies and selection processes
Planning and implementing engineer onboarding strategies
Providing engineers with career development opportunities
Planning and running internal events to develop expertise and foster better understanding of the organization
Other tasks, such as solving problems within the engineering organization, and planning and implementing growth strategies
Bold Challenges
Merpay is actively conducting tech PR. At the busiest times, Merpay holds one or more various conferences and meetups each week, and these events help to increase Merpay’s industry presence.
This position gives you the opportunity to be involved with all of Mercari Group’s engineers on planning not only onboarding, but a wide variety of events both inside and outside of Mercari Group.
You will be required to proactively plan and implement a wide variety of work tasks, such as those dealing with tech PR, internal events, communication initiatives, and onboarding initiatives.
Required Experience
Shared belief in Mercari’s mission and values
Passion for organizational messaging, engineer training, and career development
Experience using investigation/analysis or feedback to identify problems and formulate plans to ultimately solve them
Ability to communicate smoothly while proactively working to involve a wide range of stakeholders
Ability to work using Japanese
Passion for English language study
Preferred Experience
Experience with service development as a software engineer
Experience in messaging for engineering organizations
Experience managing engineering organizations
Experience in recruiting or talent development as part of HR
Ability to work using English

Has a strong, shared belief in Mercari and Merpay’s missions and values
Has drive to take ownership of work and solve problems
Has communication ability enabling them to proactive actively reach out to members and other teams
Experience in and passion for engineering organization design
Language Requirements
English or Japanese: Business level

Scheduled working hours: 10 AM – 7 PM
Currently, due to COVID-19 pandemic, we have introduced a full-flex system without core time to increase the choice of working hours and allow for more flexible working styles.*does not apply to all positions
