Team Mission
As a backend engineer manager, you will be committed to helping Merpay’s products grow by helping to solve the issues facing our engineering organizations and maximizing organizational output.
Background of this Position
Merpay has continued to expand its business since its service went live in February 2019. The company is working on a number of projects to help grow its business in FinTech, a particularly hot market today. Providing a FinTech service means providing a secure, high-quality, and high-traffic service, especially on the backend. In using technology to solve the issues inherent in such a service, we urgently need to hire engineers and secure growth for the company. This is why wehar are looking for management-level talent which can maximize organizational capabilities while maintaining the health of the organization.
Work Responsibilities
Create a strong engineering organization by hiring and developing talent
Support engineer’s growth and help them build their careers (objective setting, evaluation, feedback)
Appropriately assign engineers based on personal growth and the situation at the company
Discuss appropriateness of technical decisions with the CTO and tech leads, helping to ensure the organization and individuals’ technical skills are properly developing
Cooperate with product managers and tech leads to support growth of the product
Programming languages: Go
Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform(Compute Engine, App Engine, Cloud SQL, Datastore,Storage, Stackdriver Logging, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, etc.)
Configuration management tools: Terraform
Analysis platform: BigQuery / Looker
Monitoring: Stackdriver Monitoring / Datadog
Other: Circle CI / GitHub / Slack / JIRA / Crowi / Spinnaker / Sentry
Development methodology: Agile (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
Required Experience
A shared belief in Merpay’s mission and values
Commitment to maximizing the organization while encouraging the growth of individual engineers
Experience in backend development or infrastructure technologies
Project management experience
High communication ability, allowing for coordination between divisions and mentoring of engineers
Preferred Experience
Experience working at a financial institution or Fintech company
Ability to communicate in English

Scheduled working hours: 10 AM – 7 PM
