About the Data Science Manager (Product Team) Role:
The Data Science Manager (Product Team) role is first and foremost a leader within the department overseeing all activities of the data analytics and data warehousing departments. You will report directly to the Head of Data Science and be responsible for defining the business questions that need to be answered and defining appropriate analytics models in addition to identifying and readying relevant data sources for analysis. This Data Science team is under the Product Group Division.
Key Responsibilities:
Proactively communicate work progress to business and management stakeholders with resolution and timeline
Collaborate with the internal business/technical teams and external partner to understand the clear detailed business problem, business context, desired business outcome, result activation plan and feedback loop
Define detailed scope and methodology, creating and executing on the framework with appropriate modelling techniques, translating business context into relevant analysis
Extract actionable business insights data and build deliverables that clearly communicate the findings and recommendations
Deliver end-to-end of multiple small to large projects individually, or as part of a project team, within timeline
Actively innovate by using new data sources and modelling techniques
Ensure all project documentation is up to date and maintain the highest levels of quality
Mentor team members by providing business/technical guidance
Ensure detailed deployment and implementation of data science solutions
Continuously track business impact as well as monitor data science service availability
To succeed in this role, you will need to have passion for tech and possess strong technical skills, have business acumen, and open to a fast-paced agile environment.
Key Requirements:
Preferably master's degree in computer science or statistics/mathematics
Minimum of three to five years' experience in leading/managing data science team and stakeholders
Intermediate level in Python or Scala or any programming language in data science
Experience with Hadoop platform
Good understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig
Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase
Good applied statistics and experimental design skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, control/test planning, etc.
