**

**Why #AssaultofAusterity and #StopEconomicViolence?
**

Hashtag #AssaultofAusterity and #StopEconomicViolence emerges to address gendered issues that happen during COVID-19 pandemic.
Governments around the world are putting women and girls in danger of unprecedented new levels of poverty, peril, overwork and premature death as a result of near-universal "slash-and-burn" efforts to recover their economies from the pandemic and tame inflation.
According to Oxfam report, four out of every five governments are now locked into austerity measures, cutting public services like health, education and social protection rather than pursuing wealth taxes and windfall taxes.
More than half of these government already fail their women and girls, by failing to provide or barely providing gendered public and social services.
They are treating women and girls as expendable.
Oxfam calls all governments to end austerity and instead seek alternatives such as feminist budgeting and progressive taxation, where taxes are invested into universal social protection and public services, putting the specific needs of women, girls, and non-binary people at the heart of policy making.
Through this hashtag, we wish to amplify our message on the importance of tackling and ending the economic violence created by the austerity measures by the government, which rises the discrimination against young female in economic empowerment and the unequal opportunity for women and girls to escape the pandemic in one piece.
This campaign is organised and supported by various projects in Oxfam in Indonesia, namely Indonesian Women in Leadership (I-WIL), STRONGER, Fair for All, and the Collaboratives.
Each project amplifies specific issues in regard to gender and women:

- Indonesian Women in Leadership (I-WIL), in this campaign will focus on the **elimination of sexual violence and women economic empowerment post-pandemic**:

- STRONGER, in this campaign will focus on **the elimination of child marriage in COVID-19 setting**:

- Fair for All will **promote the support of (young) rural women (farmers and fisherfolk) to develop, strengthen and promote gender-inclusive, women-led businesses and cooperatives, which aims to increase their economic empowerment.
**:

- The Collaboratives will focus on **emphasizing women-and community-driven solutions to the climate crisis, especially the role that women farmers must play.
**

During this campaign, these projects will particularly touch upon how the above mentioned topics are contextualised in the time of pandemic.
**Flexfam**:
We believe flexible working is key to building the Oxfam of the future, so we're open to talking through the type of flexible arrangements which might work for you.
We think this role would work particularly well as a partially home-based role or job share.
