**Program Overview**WRI Indonesia seeks to support the government, private sector, and communities in Indonesia to reduce its GHG emission through better management of its forest and land use, business operation, and livelihoods. We utilize new technology, multi-stakeholder approach, and research to provide the most up-to-date, accurate, and reliable tools, methodology, and data so that key stakeholders can take part in sustainable development. To advance this cause, WRI Indonesia is championing an ambitious program to transform land use planning and management to be more inclusive and sustainable through several projects, one of which is **Designing and Establishing a Successful Jurisdictional Public Private Partnership (PPP) to Improve Legal, Transparent, and Sustainable Palm Oil Initiative** at Banyuasin District, South Sumatra, Indonesia.Through this project, we will support a district level governance for sustainable palm oil. The project will focus on two main activities such as the establishment of PPP and the framework development on sustainable palm oil supply chain. This will also promote the improvement of sustainability, legality, and transparency at any aspects of palm oil management. At the end, at least a district level policy such as the making of RAD KSB (Regional Action Plan for Sustainable Palm Oil) would be drafted by the PPP series forum, adopting the framework as the main component.**Job Highlights****The Research A****ssistant **will be responsible for providing technical and operational aspects, notably for research-based activities in implementing and managing WRI's key initiatives/portfolios in the prioritized sites and districts. The main responsibility will include implementing project plan; conducting and facilitating discussions; data collection-analysis and writing both communication product and knowledge product.The Research Assistant will focus on four (4) main activities related to research and training. For instance, conducting stakeholder mapping using SNA (Social Network Analysis); conducting Gap Analysis using AFi (The Accountability Framework initiative), Terpercaya Indicators, and FGI (Forest Governance Indicators); conducting series of training on Land Use Planner including preparing the materials; and developing framework of sustainable palm oil supply chain as well as the draft-making of RAD-KSB. The coverage areas would be in provincial level and Banyuasin District.In terms of administration, the Research Assistant will be based in South Sumatra Office in Palembang, with frequent field travel within South Sumatra province and its prioritized districts, as well as other places as may be assigned. He/she will report to South Sumatra and Aceh Senior Program Lead/Sustainable Commodity Expert and coordinate to Supply Chain and Livelihood Transformation Senior Manager.**What You Will Do**The Research Assistant main areas of responsibility will include the following:**Technical Works and Research (70%)**- Desk studies and field visits to collect relevant information and data on the PPP monitoring framework and the supply-chains of forest-risk commodities especially palm oil, originating from the district(s), including on challenges to comply with sustainability principles.- Conduct a series of focus groups discussions and interviews to support stakeholder mapping and gaps analyses.- Write a variety of knowledge and communication products and conduct events to promote district-level PPP and supply chain transparency on sustainable palm oil.- Utilize tools and approaches, such as the Land-Use Planner, GFW Pro, SWOT, AFi (The Accountability Framework initiative), Terpercaya Indicators, STDB, and FGI (Forest Governance Indicators) as appropriate.- Develop consensual objectives and roadmap, including common, measurable goals for the district in legal and sustainable supply chains of forest-risk commodities notably palm oil as well as an action plan specifying timeline and the task of each stakeholder.- Train local facilitators and other relevant stakeholders with the Land-use Planner tool, develop training materials as well as provide backstopping/technical support to users to promote inclusive land-use planning at the district or village level.- Support and assist Sustainable Commodity Expert as well as Forest and Land Use Governance Specialist in preparing training/ workshop report, a working paper and a brief detailing the development of the multi-stakeholder platform, a brief detailing best practices and lesson learned, a working paper and a brief on the development PPP monitoring framework, brief of from developed PPP, and relevant communication materials (e.g social media, blog, videos).- Support drafting of district-level regulations to support the PPP.**Project Management and Communication (30%)**- Collaborate with program/project lead and regional team to actively communicate relevant programs and activities, and liaise closely with key
