Details of the offer

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organization that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And its girls who are most affected.
Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children. We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge. We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.
Currently Yayasan Plan International Indonesia (Plan Indonesia) is implementing a four year (December 2017-November 2021) Safeguarding against and Addressing Fishers’ Exploitation at Sea Project (SAFE Seas Project) with funding from United States Department of Labor (DOL). SAFE Seas’ objective is to combat forced labor in fishing vessels in Indonesia and the Philippines. By the end of the project, SAFE Seas expects to contribute to the reduction of forced labor and human trafficking (FL/TIP) on fishing vessels in Indonesia and the Philippines. Plan Indonesia is working closely with various actors who deal with FL/TIP and fishery industry issues. At the national and local level, Plan International is working with the three key ministries: Manpower, Fishery and Transportation, agencies, organizations that provide support services to fishers and their families and local governments as well as civil society organizations and communities. Plan Indonesia also engages the private sector in order to seek their cooperation in complying with International anti-trafficking regulations. Through the project, Plan Indonesia also actively involve fish workers, both individually and collectively as members of fish worker unions, to combat FL/TIP. At the global level, Plan is engaging other international organizations, which have experience working on FL/TIP issues to work on solutions including ILO and IOM.
The Communications Officer will be responsible to develop and lead the implementation of project communication strategy to promote and profiling the project. She/he will also support implementing partner in developing and producing information, education and communication materias relevant to project campaign.
This position reports to SAFE Seas National Project Coordinator and also has the coordination line with -Influencing department.
The position has a functional relationship with all project staff including implementing partner for developing and producing effective information, education and communication materials with high visibility in local and national level off line as well as on line, providing support to the influencing/advocacy outputs of projects and leading the process of YPII branding strategy development.
The person is responsible for ensuring the compliances of global brand identity in Plan International Indonesia communication materials and events are in line with global brand guideline and identity to promote Plan visibility.

We create a climate of trust inside and outside the organisation by being open, honest and transparent. We hold ourselves and others to account for the decisions we make and for our impact on others, while doing what we say we will do.
We strive to achieve significant and lasting impact on the lives of children and young people, and to secure equality for girls. We challenge ourselves to be bold, courageous, responsive, focused and innovative.
We succeed by working effectively with others, inside and outside the organisation, including our sponsors and donors. We actively support our colleagues, helping them to achieve their goals. We come together to create and implement solutions in our teams, across Plan International, with children, girls, young people, communities and our partners.
We respect all people, appreciate differences and challenge inequality in our programmes and our workplace. We support children, girls and young people to increase their confidence and to change their own lives. We empower our staff to give their best and develop their potential.
Typical office environment in Jakarta, with frequent travel to project locations
Medium interaction with young people (age from 18 – 29)
