US Based agency seeks freelance English (EN) to Bahasa Indonesia (ID) editors with recognized near-native proficiency in English.
**Editors**:
Key objective: checking the accuracy of the translation and ensuring that the translated text meets the expectations of the target readership in terms of terminology, readability, presentation, and signing out on a project prior to its transmission to the customer.

Language skills: (i) Native speaker fluency in the target language (ID); (ii) Advanced proficiency in reading and comprehension in the source language (EN); (iii) Minimum 5 years of documented translation experience; (iv) Diploma from a translation school or membership in a professional translator association; (v) Excellent writing ability such as acquired by formal studies and/or extensive reading; and (vi) Superior proofreading skills.

Editing priorities: (i) Consistency (in terms of abbreviations, capitalization, hyphenation, spelling, house style, etc), (ii) Grammatically correct (in terms of spelling, punctuation, wording), (iii) Suitability for the intended audience (in terms of jargon, abbreviations, tone, sentence length, technical vocabulary, etc), (iv) Well structured (in terms of headings, lists, tables, paragraph and sentence length, the flow of text), (iv) Good writing (including rewording and restructuring text as necessary to improve the flow), (v) Correct length for its purpose (text may need to be cut down to a specific word length), (vi) Accuracy of references (in terms of chapter headings, sub-headings, cross-references, web links, captions and positioning of tables/illustrations), (vii) Factual correctness (checking basic facts - for example names, places, website addresses, etc).

Minimum requirement: (i) Graduate degree in a discipline related to macroeconomics, economic development, finance, accounting and banking, international trade, environmental management, social sciences, political sciences, education and public health, agriculture and rural development or, engineering fields; (ii) Minimum 10 years experience in professional writing, preferably as an editor; and (iii) Demonstrated capacity to lead and coach with respect to writing practices and translation, (iv) Demonstrated interests in and knowledge of current economic and political issues (national and international).
